What is MOB?

MOB, which originally stood for Mothers of Barrington, is a social group open to ALL Barrington women. Members include women with no children, women with babies to grandchildren and everything in between. The group meets one evening a month to socialize, share ideas, and keep the women in the neighborhood connected and informed.

MOB meetings take place at a host’s home and are a casual affair. Everyone brings an hors d’oeuvre, dessert, or bottle of wine to share. Women begin showing up at 7:00 P.M. and socialize for about an hour. Then there is a short meeting to discuss neighborhood activities, community issues, and current topics of interest. After the meeting, women stay as long as they like to continue socializing. Members come as often or as little as their schedule allows. Dates and locations of upcoming meetings are posted in the Barrington Online Bulletin and in the marquis at the entrance to the neighborhood.

How do you join MOB? Just come to one meeting and you’re a member. Easy! Whether you come every month or once a year, you’ll always be welcome. There’s something for everyone at the MOB gatherings: friendship, camaraderie, community information, design ideas (from seeing the host’s home), desserts, hors d’oeuvre, and plenty to drink.

MOB meets every month at a host’s home beginning at 7:00 P.M. Dates and locations are posted in the Barrington Online Bulletin and in the marquis at the entrance to the neighborhood. Bring an hors d’oeuvre, dessert, or bottle of wine to share.
